LINKED PARISH

Our Diocese is linked to the Diocese of Monmouth in the Church of Wales. As a parish we are linked to the parish of St Cadoc, in Caerleon, Newport, Wales.

The parish of St Cadoc, Caerleon, was a part of the Caerleon Ministry area, now disbanded, and is now part of the Beechwood Ministry Area. The Vicar is Mother Sue Pratten.

You can find St Cadoc’s on facebook still at Caerleon Ministry Area

THE BISHOP OF MONMOUTH, Bishop Cherry Vann. See the link here for more about her.

WHO WAS ST CADOC? St Cadoc was the son of St Woolos (Gundleus) a local King, and St Gladys (Gwladys ) . The Cathedral of Newport (Monmouth) is dedicated in honour of St Woolos. Cadoc renounced his royal lineage and life as a warrior and became an Abbott at Llancarfen. He was active in encouraging the Celtic Christians in the time of battles against the pagan Anglo-Saxons, and was killed by the Anglo Saxons. Learn more.

Cadoc died on the 21st September 497. Because 21st September is celebrated as the Feast of St Matthew, he is commemorated on 25th September. This is the patronal Festival of the Parish.
